 2016 Preview 


       Brindlee Mountain finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 1-9 record. Last year Brindlee Mountain finished eighth in Class 3A region seven with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs.

       The Lions have never qualified for a playoff spot and would love to break that streak this season. The Lions have never won a playoff game in the school's history. They would like to break through and pick up that first post season victory in 2016.

       The offense struggled putting points on the score board as Brindlee Mountain averaged scoring just 9.9 points a game.

       The Lions would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, the Brindlee Mountain football program has struggled with a record of 9-51.

       Over the past 10 seasons, Brindlee Mountain has not won much with a record of 13-87. Their 13.0% winning percentage ranks 59th in Class 3A and 379th in the AHSAA. The Lions have struggled on the football field with no winning seasons during this time.

       The Lions are led by head coach Matt Self who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 1-9 record in his first season at Brindlee Mountain. The Lions have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Self.

       Coach Self's overall record as a head football coach in one season stands at 1-9 (10.0%).

       The Brindlee Mountain Lions will play in Class 3A region seven during the 2016 season.

       The Lions enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 9 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season.

       This season, the Lions will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region seven.

       The Lions open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent J.B. Pennington on Friday, August 19 at W.R. Sutton Memorial Stadium. Last year the J.B. Pennington Tigers finished with an overall record of 2-8 and in eighth place in Class 4A region seven. The Tigers ended last season on a positive note with a win over Susan Moore by a score of 47-14 after failing to gain a playoff spot.

       Brindlee Mountain and J.B. Pennington have met a total of 6 times on the football field. The Lions have a 0-6-0 record against the Tigers. They last met in 2013 with J.B. Pennington winning by a score of 28-8.
